Discussion sur les
CHUTES DE FEUILLES D'ULMUS PARVIFOLIA
Sur le groupe de discussion anglophone: rec.arts.bonsai
Hello,
I'm French and I don't use to write in English, so apology my errors. (It will
be nice if you tell me them)
I have a gohon-yose of Ulmus. Most of the leaves became redish. I made a
treatment against the Mildew (copper oxide and propinebe) but nothing changed.
This phenomenon happens every springs, without glow at the other spring. I can
scan a leaf if you don't understand the meaning of my purpose.
Thanks
Olivier
If I understand correctly, the emerging new leaves of your Ulmus have a
reddish color to them? If that is the case, there is nothing wrong and no treatment is required as it is a normal coloration.

S-most, TxHello, Salut,
I think I don't correctly explain my problem. So I try to set out it again.
As the days pass, new leaves became darker and after they beacame red (and a little yellow) and they fall.
I thought that the problem was Mildew and I treat the forest with copper
oxide and propinebe.
This problem happens every spring. The fall (of most of old leaves) comes to a end with the shoot of new leaves.

OlivierSalut Oliver ,I don't know if you realise there is a French language group fr.rec.jardinage.bonsai. full of very knowledgeable bonsai enthusiasts who I'm sure can help you.If you do get a solution to your problem please let me know as I don't subscribe to it any more, the technicalities of the language was to much for my schoolboy French .
Could you have a mineral deficiency ,how often do you repot or fertilize?
You say it is a five tree group of Ulmus,is that parvifolia or something else? I would be very interested to find out what the problem was,I see you are cross posted to r.a.b. maybe when America wakes up you get help.
Bon chance Pete.I didn't know that a French language group exists. So thanks to say it to me. I don't think that a mineral defiency can be the origin of the problem : I repoted the Ulmus this year, and I'm used to fertilize every 2 weeks (3mL 4,4,4 of NPK per 1L). The race of the elm is parvifolia.
OlivierDear Oliver:
Did you bring your Elm out gradually? To give it some light for about an hour, and then put it back in the garage, and then double the time outdoors the next day etc.

http://members2.clubphoto.com/gloria223091Hello,
All my bonsaï are grown outside. The temperature is always higher than 5°C.
OlivierOlivier: Are most of the leaves looking this way or just a few? If just a few, I suggest that you pick them off and dispose of them away from your tree(s). If most of them are doing this, I suggest you bring a sample to a horticultural disease expert for analysis.
Alan Walker, Lake Charles, LA, USAHello,
I just notice that mainly one tree had the symtoms and only the half foliage of this tree. Only an other tree is hit, and in a less way.
OlivierOlivier ,
l'hiver .
salut,
marcoOlivier ,
then please look at roots,if your forest is in a deep (4cm?) pot ,you can dig up it and see if some roots are ill ; if you don't find anything , cut away all hold leaves and wait what it will happen ; until you have not discovered your problem, don't fertilize .
salut,
marcoWhat providence are you from in France. There are many different climates
in that country.
Jen
